Art and the Evil

On Saturday 23 June 2018 at 16:00 CET the literary magazine De Gids presents its issue Art and the Evil. Maxim Februari, Simone van Saarloos, Arnon Grunberg, Johanna Geels and Bas van Putten contribute essays on the topic. Students of the Amsterdam Conservatoire (Conservatorium van Amsterdam) have composed madrigals, based on brand-new poems on the topic by Martijn Benders, Annemarie Estor, Rozalie Hirs, and Mischa Andriessen. Fiep van Bodegom acts as host of the event. The location is Stadsschouwburg (Rabozaal), Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

The afternoon event is part of the Holland Festival and as such connected to Gesualdo: an anarchistic quest for the sublime, a series of concerts performed by Nederlands Kamerkoor and De Warme Winkel that week.
