Bridge of babel (2009)
To the sun (2006) – US premiere

On 27 April 2019 at 12:00 (noon) Rozalie Hirs is presenting a poetry performance/ lecture at the Public Library in San Francisco, California, United States. The event takes place during the National Poetry Month. Rozalie talks about intermedial aspects of her poetry and music, followed by a poetry reading and performance of the poetry/music hybrids Bridge of Babel (2009), and To the sun (2006). The event lasts about an hour.

The poems are selections from her three latest books Geluksbrenger (2008), gestamelde werken (2012), and verdere bijzonderheden (2017), published by Uitgeverij Querido|Singeluitgeverijen, translated by Donald Gardner. The multilingual poetry/music hybrid Bridge of Babel (2009) is part of her CD Pulsars (2010), released by Attacca Productions.

World Poetry Festival, Montevideo, Uruguay

From 2 until 7 April 2019 Rozalie Hirs is a guest poet at the World Poetry Festival/ Mundial Poético de Montevideo, Uruguay. During the festival Hirs and other international poets from France, Spain, Brasil, Perú, Haiti, Argentina, perform in different cities around Uruguay. In addition the new Spanish poetry book by Hirs ahora es una rosa (Montevideo: Yauguru Books, 2019; Spanish translations by Diego Puls) will be presented.

Portrait concert: Rozalie Hirs – poetry and music

On 24 April 2016 Penhuis Kortrijk and Festival van Vlaanderen Kortrijk present a portrait concert with poetry and music by Rozalie Hirs. Alain Delmotte is the host of the event, consisting of a performance by the Bozzini Quartet of Hirs’ string quartets Zenit (2010) and Nadir (2014), as well as a poetry performance by the composer-poet. The event is curated by Joost Fonteyne and Gie Devos. The location is Schouwburg, Kortrijk, Belgium.

Special thanks to Roel Das for the sound projection in the hall and to Casper Schipper for assistance with the sound synthesis for Nadir.

Nieuw Amsterdams Peil: Rozalie Hirs

On 21 April 2015 in De Link, Tilburg, The Netherlands, Nieuw Amsterdams Peil and Rozalie Hirs are performing a program with works by Hirs, some of her musical heroes, and one of her former students. The musicians are Heleen Hulst (violin), Gerard Bouwhuis (piano), Lars Wouters van den Oudenweijer (clarinet), Mick Stirling (cello), Arne Bock (sound projection), and Rozalie Hirs (spoken voice).

Portrait concert, Mills College, United States

On 18 April 2015 at 20:00 PST Mills Performing Group (MPG), founded in 1963 by Darius Milhaud, Luciano Berio, and Morton Subotnick, will perform works by Hirs during Mills Music Now at Mills College, Oakland, California. Furthermore on the progam will be a new work co-composed and performed by James Fei (live electronics) and Rozalie Hirs (spoken voice, electronic sounds).

On March 22, 2012, Rozalie Hirs performs her musical compositions Bridge of Babel (2009) and In LA (2003; English version, 2010) and reads poems as part of Stanza, a series of literary events organized by Rámus förlaget, Malmö, Sweden.
