Sunday, November 11, 2012, in the afternoon, the new composition article 7 [seven ways to climb a mountain] for bass clarinet and electronic sounds is premiered during November Music. Fie Schouten performs the work in three recitals at 12:30, 14:30 and 17:00, in the Lutherse Kerk, Den Bosch. The three recitals each last one hour. Also on the program: works by Theo Loevendie and Karlheinz Stockhausen.

A global visuage, Graz, Austria

On Tuesday 16 October 2012 the publication A global visuage (Vienna: edition ch, 2012), containing visual poetry from all over the world, is presented to the public at Last Chance Saloon, Forum Stadtpark, Saloon, Stadtpark 1, 8010 Graz, Vienna. The accompanying exhibition will travel to galleries around Europe during the following year: Gallerie Wechselstrom, Vienna, Austria; DIG Gallery, Bratislava, Slovakia; Literaturhaus, Vienna, Austria; Kunsttempel, Kassel, Germany. The book and exhibition are curated by Jörg Piringer and Günther Vallaster.

Part of the publication is ‘Family Tree’ (2006) by Harm van den Dorpel, based on the poem with the same name by Rozalie Hirs. Part of the exhibition are pieces selected from Sightbook of work in stuttering by Ines Cox and Lauren Grusenmeyer, based on the poetry cycle die deed mijn schoenen aan (who put on my shoes; 2011) by Rozalie Hirs. On March 17, 2012, Rozalie Hirs performs three musical compositions based on original texts as part of the performance lecture Rozalie Hirs: New music, new poetry at the StAnza International Poetry Festival. The pieces are Bridge of Babel (2009), In LA (2003, English version, 2010) and Pulsars (2007). Additionally, she reads the poem cycles Who put on my shoes (2010; English translation by Donald Gardner, 2012) and A day (2009; English translation by Donald Gardner, 2012), and talks about her interactive website Geluksbrenger online (2011), which she created in collaboration with visual artist Harm van den Dorpel. The festival is curated by Eleanor Livingstone.
