On November 27, 2008, the launch party for the new poetry collection Geluksbrenger (Amsterdam: Querido, 2008) by Rozalie Hirs takes place, with performances by Jaap Blonk, Geert Buelens, Rozalie Hirs and the Jackson Mac Low Band. Mirjam van Hengel, poetry editor for Querido, presents the first copy to the poet. The event is hosted by Joost Baars.

At the invitation of Kunstwelten at the Akademie der Künste, Berlin, Germany, from June 2 to June 5, 2008, Rozalie Hirs gives a workshop Creative Writing to students of the Eurogymnasion Bitterfeld, Bitterfeld-Wolfen, Germany.

The illustration shows an example of ‘Erasure poetry’: the first page of the famous book, A Humument, by Tom Philips. ‘Erasure poetry’ is one of the techniques that are featured during the workshop. The workshops are held in German.

During the night, poets and writers Emmanuel Moses, Sandra Jensen, Wiljan van den Akker, Jennifer Arcuni, Michael Karmen, Julian Stannard and Jane Monk read original work. In addition, Rozalie Hirs performs the world premiere of her musical composition Poetry piece III (2008).

On Saturday, April 26, 2008, Rozalie Hirs performs her musical compositions Aan de zon, de wereld (2006), In LA (2003), Poetry pieces I-III (2008) and Van het wonder is woord (2005) at Minardschouwburg, Ghent, Belgium, for the occasion of the Krikri/ Zaoem festival. The performance of Poety Pieces I-II is the world premiere of these compositions.

Other featured artists include poets/performers Angela Rawlings (Canada), Eduard Escoffet (Spain), Leevi Lehto (Finland), Ghalia Benali (Tunesia). Festival curators are Maja Jantar, Jelle Meander and Helen White.

The program also features works by Iannis Xenakis, Matthias Pintscher, Vinko Globokar, Javier Alvarez, Larry Baker and Edison Denisov. Oboist Christian Hommel and flutist Nari Hong are the musical collaborators of Fischer in this concert.
