Last Sunday, on 26 April 2015 at 11:15 CET, the brand-new composition by Rozalie Hirs Hilbert’s Hotel (2015) for 31-tone player organ and electronic sounds received its premiere at Muziekgebouw aan’t IJ, Amsterdam, Netherlands. The work was commissioned by the Huygens-Fokker Foundation with financial support of the Dutch Performing Arts Fund.
All calculations were carried out in OpenMusic, the sound synthesis in SuperCollider. During the concert Protools was used as an interface to communicate with the organ through 3 channels of MIDI messages. Special thanks to Casper Schipper for his assistance with the sound synthesis.
