“Dichter aan huis”

On September 24, 2011, Rozalie Hirs is giving five lectures (at 13:00, 14:00, 15:00, 16:00 and 17:00) on, and including, poetry, as part of the event Dichter aan huis (“Poet in the house”) in The Hague. During this event, some fifty poets are performing, each in a different living room in The Hague. Hirs is reading in the workshop of sculptor and stone restaurateur Paul van Laere.

Hirs is reading several poems (cycles) and is talking about some digital word toys: the application Stamboom  (2006) and the interactive website Geluksbrenger online (2011), which have both been developed in collaboration with visual artist Harm van den Dorpel.

As part of the Gaudeamus Muziekweek, the composition in three movements, Venus [morning star] [invisible] [evening star] (2010) by Rozalie Hirs, is performed by Slagwerk Den Haag. The concert is taking place at Tivoli, Utrecht, during the Night of the Unexpected.

Chairman of the jury for the Gaudeamus Prize

During the International Gaudeamus Music Week 2011, which is being held from September 4 through 11, Rozalie Hirs is acting as chairman of the jury for the Gaudeamus Prize. Apart from Hirs, the jury consists of Tadeusz Wielecki (Poland) and Miguel Azguime (Portugal). During the week, the jury is leading workshop sessions for the composers participating in the festival.
